Madsen Giersing undertook the detailed design of the pier brackets for the bridge and the out of balance prop. The load in the beams and in the bracket was monitored during the construction and compared with the theoretical loads.

Madsen Giersing also developed the erection procedure for the superstructure, including the procedure for casting the midspan joint.
