Madsen Giersing has undertaken the design of the mast extension for the Johoco pile driving barge operated by John Holland in Western Australia. Included in the design was a stability assessment of the barge at various load cases involving vertical and raking piles.

The barge is 12m wide x 24m long and the mast has been extended 8m to a total height of 45m. The capacity of the mast support tower was assessed and the mast extension was completed without removing the existing mast.

Madsen Giersing’s latest involvement in this project has been the design of a tension pile test arrangement for a load of 410T.
